Las Fuentes

Fountains • Baths • Wells

These illustrations are an exercise in isometric perspective. This theoretical and idealized perspective was used in order to accentuate the experience of a fountain: the images construct form evenly and in the round, drawing space to them just as fountains shape the public life.

They are not schematics of specific architecture, rather they record the memory and impact of various fountains—their tranquility and ordering effect. The various designs were adapted from the many watering holes that animate the gardens and public plazas of Spain and Portugal. Their shapes vary between the circle, the square, and everything in between. Together they offer a loose catalog of these forms and a tribute to their beauty.
